Call of Crows, #3

Shelly Laurenston's third Call of Crows is back with a bang. Once again we're thrown into the world of Viking Clans with crows, ravens, owls, Norse gods, and all the lot as the world is once again on the brink of Ragnarök. Laurenston has a special brand of snark that she brings to all of her stories and this book is no exception. The fact that Erin Amsel, the most aggravating and sarcastic Crow to ever exist makes this a very interesting and fun read. Add in the brooding Raven Stieg Engstrom and it just gets better. I would not have said it before this book but I think Stieg might be my favorite hero from this series. He had so much hidden, even from his Raven brothers, and so much more depth than I imagined. Watching these two battle it out, and find a level ground with each other was very enjoyable. I can't wait to see what Laurenston delivers next.

Erin Amsel loves being a warrior for the goddess Skuld. Although her unrestrained sarcasm and general mouthiness often land Erin in trouble she knows that she always has her sister Crows at her back. That's about to change though as fate is about to pull her into the battle for the world and she's not going to have much to rely on but the mysterious Stieg Engstrom. Though he's often irritated with her, suddenly Steig is everywhere Erin is and he's doing a fine job of getting her out of trouble as soon as she gets into it. With the fate of the world on the line Erin and Steig are going to have to work with each other to save their fellow warriors and the world as they know it...if they don't kill each other first.

Stieg Engstrom, Angriest Viking Ever, has got big problems. The human Viking Clans of earth are in danger of being obliterated—along with the rest of the world—and the only one who may be able to save them is a super pain-in-the-ass Crow. Most people annoy Stieg, but this is the one woman he really can’t stand…

Erin Amsel loves being a Crow! Why wouldn’t she when the other Viking Clans are so hilariously arrogant and humorless? She’s not about to let all that come to an end! She just didn’t expect to be shoulder to shoulder in battle with Stieg. Then again, he’s so easy to torment—and also kind of cute.

With the future of the world riding on them, Stieg knows he’ll have to put aside his desperate need to kiss the smirk right off Erin’s face. Wait. What? He didn’t mean that—did he? No! They have one goal: To conquer the idiots. Because nothing bugs Stieg more than when idiots win. If only he can keep himself from suddenly acting like one…
