A Brand New Ending

Stay Book 2

To be honest, I am not a fan of second chance romances. I’m a firm believer in if something doesn’t workout the first time then the possibilities of it working again are slim. That is the vibe that I felt about this story, “A Brand New Ending.” The hero has done the heroine wrong in so many ways in their youth only to return a changed man and is ready to confess his love. It feels unnatural in reality and even more unconvincing in a romance novel. Regardless, of how I feel I read this book and overall I liked it. I did not love the story. I liked it.

Ophelia, the heroine really stood out to me as a character. She had managed to work hard and push through her past to create a future for herself. I liked Ophelia from the beginning. She is a smart, sassy woman who has learned her place in the world and now knows and understands what she wants out of both life and in men.

Kyle, the hero I did not like. Nope. Nothing could change my mind about Kyle. I felt like Kyle had a lot of nerve showing up at Ophelia’s family owned B&B as a retreat for his writing. I thought Kyle was a bit shady from the start. I didn’t find his sweet talking anymore amazing than I did his ego. Kyle was just a pain for me.

I did like the background of the group, the rugged landscape and the soft definitions of the undertone of the story. If it had not been for Kyle or maybe I should write had Kyle not done Ophelia so wrong I might have enjoyed this story more then I did.

Book Blurb for A Brand New Ending

A love story will be rewritten in this heartfelt romance from New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Probst.

Ophelia Bishop was a lovestruck teenage girl when she and Kyle Kimpton chased their dreams to Hollywood. Kyle’s dreams came true. Ophelia’s did not. When Kyle chose his career over their relationship, Ophelia returned home to rural New York to run the family’s B & B—wiser, and more guarded against foolish fantasies. Now Kyle has come crashing back into her life, and all her defenses are down.

Kyle can’t think of a better place to write his latest screenplay than his hometown. After all, that was where he met the heart of his inspiration—his first love. He knows the damage he’s caused Ophelia, and he wants a chance to mend their relationship. If anyone can prove to Ophelia that happy ever afters aren’t only for the movies, it should be him.

As much as Ophelia’s changed, she still has feelings for Kyle. But her heart has been broken before, and she knows that Kyle could run back to Hollywood at any time. She gave up her dreams once, but maybe she can dare to change her own love story…one last time.
