A Play-by-Play Novel Book 13

Oh my gosh, this story in Ms. Burton’s Play-By-Play series really reminds you that time is passing by. I can remember when Nathan is introduced as a child and now the book is about him and his father is retired from football. But, all that aside, this is a terrific romance and as Nathan is all grown up and playing with the pros there is nothing strange feeling about this story. In fact, Nathan comes across as a mature young man with a real future in front of him. Actually, all of the characters come across really well and really well thought out. From the familiar characters which have shown up throughout this series to the new ones introduced with this book, each character becomes endearing and special. I love that though this is a “sports” book, the sport does not take over. This is primarily a romance novel and that’s exactly what you get with, in this case, football as a background. Mia is a long time friend of Nathan’s and their transition from best friends to friends with benefits to even more is fantastic to watch. They are not just jumping into something without checking things out. Also, both of their carriers are important to them. I just really loved this story and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves romance. You don’t need to go back and read any of the previous stories though you might want to.

This is going to be a big year for Nathan. His father has retired from the pros and now Nathan is to be the starting quarterback. He’s not sure if he’s ready for this responsibility or not but the coaches seem to think so. Plus, his best friend, Mia is opening her business in town too. He can’t wait to see her. They’ve been friends for so long and he really hopes her business takes off. When he stops by to visit, feels show up that neither really want to deal with. So, now what?

Book Blurb for The Final Score

In the new Play-by-Play novel by the New York Times bestselling author of Rules of Contact, a star quarterback is torn between his love of the game—and the woman who may be the love of his life.

Nathan Riley is ready to follow in the footsteps of his famous football player father. He’s been drafted as quarterback for his dad’s former team, and his future is bright. When his friend Mia Cassidy moves to the same city, their years-long friendship suddenly sparks hot, reminding him of the one night they had together in college that he can never forget.

Like Nathan, Mia is from a sports dynasty family and embarking on an incredible new career—as founder of her own sports management company. Her friendship with Nathan means everything to her, and tossing sex into the mix again could jeopardize it. But the chemistry between them has always sizzled, and it isn’t long before Mia realizes she wants more with Nathan than just late-night talks and pizza.

Passion has a funny way of changing the rules, and soon Nathan and Mia discover that to win it all, they’ll have to make an unexpected play for love.
