Steal the Light

A Thieves Novel, #1

Absolutely fantastic fantasy novel! This was definitely not what I was expecting from Lexi Blake. However, the change of genre didn't change her excellent story telling ability. I was involved and intrigued from the very beginning. I wanted only good things for Zoey as she learned of her fiance's death. I was thrilled when he shows up again as a vampire. The complexity of their story was perfect. The introduction of family, crew and a new love interest only made the story more compelling to read. The world that was developed was just as complex as the characters and was just as believable. I loved this story on so many levels; the characters, the world, the dealings with a demon, and even the betrayal of someone trusted. I finished this story only wanting to know more. While there are definitely romance elements in this story, this is not an erotic romance. It truly is a urban fantasy novel.

Zoey has always loved Daniel, even as a child. When he is killed she is destroyed. But, hours after his death, Daniel rises as a vampire. No one knew. He returns to Zoey only to have members of the Council show up and drag him to Paris. When he can finally return to Zoey, he's changed. He's not the same Daniel Zoey knew. However, they keep their friendship and make a crew, a team who steals things. When approached by Mr Halfer to steal the Light of Alhorra for more money than Zoey can even dream of, she accepts only to learn that Mr Halfer is a demon. Soon, Zoey has to fight for her life as she finally gives up on Daniel and goes searching for love. Pressures build until something has to give. If Zoey doesn't find and steal the Light Of Alhorra, she's heading to hell. If she doesn't pay attention, she may not live long enough to care!

When dealing with demons, the devil’s in the details…

Stealing mystical and arcane artifacts is a dangerous business, especially for a human, but Zoey Wharton is an exceptional thief. The trick to staying alive is having friends in all the wrong places. While having a witch and a werewolf on the payroll helps, being partners with a vampire really opens doors.

Zoey and Daniel were childhood sweethearts until a violent car crash took his life and left her shattered. When Daniel returned from the grave as a vampire, his only interest in Zoey was in keeping her safely apart from the secrets of his dark world. He has vowed to protect her, but his heart seems as cold as the night he calls home.

Five years later, a mysterious new client named Lucas Halfer offers Zoey a fortune to steal the Light of Alhorra. The search for the Light leads Zoey into the arms of an earthbound faery prince. Devinshea Quinn sweeps her off her feet, showing her everything the supernatural world has to offer, but Daniel still calls to her heart.

As the true nature of the Light is revealed, Zoey discovers Halfer is a demon and much more than money is at stake. Per her contract, she must give him the Light or spend an eternity in Hell. What’s a girl to do except fight for her soul…and her heart.
