"Pursuing the Light" is another great adventure involving L.A.M.P. agents. What is great is that though each book is tied together through L.A.M.P. each is also very independent of the others. This story has family ties, secrets and a woman who knows her worth. I found this story to be super fun to read and loved all the misadventures mixed in with the mission to find, kill and clean up dangerous Cryptids, also known as monsters. I absolutely loved Holly’s can do attitude. Leif isn’t sure what to do with her and his confusion and his belief that Holly isn’t trained to be a hunter gives the story plenty of opportunities for misunderstandings adding even more humor to an already fun story. Though it doesn’t seem as if a happy ending is possible, the ending ends up being perfect. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to more stories about L.A.M.P.
The Story: Holly has always wanted to be a hunter for L.A.M.P. She trained with her brothers who are all hunters. However, during her test to become a hunter, she loses out to Leif. Leif is a former special forces soldier. Now, years later they are forced to work together near the home where Holly grew up. Besides wanting to be a hunter, Holly has a secret she can’t let Leif know about. Between keeping her secret and “helping”Leif, she’s driving him crazy. Can they work things out?
L.A.M.P.S. hunter Leif Gunther grew up as an only child. He has a system for keeping order in his life while hunting Cryptids. He enjoys the solitude and quiet the job provides. Until a chatty redhead is assigned to assist him in his quest for the pack of Goochies terrorizing West Virginia and his systemized life gets turned upside down.
Cleaning up after Cryptids is not Holly McClure’s favorite job. She’d rather be hunting like her four brothers. Her boss pairs her with the same man who stole her hunter spot. Now she has an opportunity to show she’s a better hunter. Not to mention she has to keep her fairy godmother, who just happens to be a Sheepsquatch, a secret from Leif.
Leif just has three rules. Keep quiet, stay out of my way, and don’t touch my stuff. Too bad Holly can’t help breaking them repeatedly. Drawn together by the chase, Leif and Holly find that if they work together they make a great hunting team and their passion grows as they pursue their prey.
