The Way to a Duke’s Heart is the final installment in the ‘The Truth About the Duke” series. In the finale, it’s Charles de Lacy, the heir to the Dukedom of Durham, who must finally step up and do his part in ensuring the Durham title is rightfully his and determine just who is behind the blackmail plot.
Charlie had his reasons for living the life of a rake. When his brothers both leave it to Charlie to take on the last leg of the blackmail investigation, Charlie finally takes strides towards becoming the man he was meant to be. Of course, becoming that man came from the help of a very wise and sharp tongued individual...Tessa Neville. While he uses humor to charm people into doing his bidding, he found with Tessa he could bounce ideas off of her and openly discuss (any subject) without fear of ridicule. That openness brought Charlie out of hiding and made him realize that with Tessa by his side, he can take whatever comes his way.
It was a charming, fun read to finish the series with.
Charles de Lacey ran away from his responsibilities as Duke of Durham when he argued with this father. Now facing the possibility that he could lose the Dukedom because of a relationship his father had sixty years ago, Charlie rushes off to find the suspected blackmailer and get the evidence needed to keep his title. But along the way, he meets Tessa Neville, who’s coincidental business with the suspected blackmailer gives him the in he needs to unravel the plot. He finds Tessa enchanting, despite her sharp tongue and intelligence, and discovers she’s the key to becoming a worthy Duke.
Charles de Lacey, Lord Gresham, is running out of time, running from his responsibilities, and running from love.
Destined to be a duke, Charles de Lacey has led a life of decadent pleasure, free of any care for propriety or responsibility. It comes as a terrible shock to learn that he might be stripped of everything, thanks to his father's scandalous past. He has no choice but to find the blackmailer who would ruin him—and his only link to the villain is a woman who may be part of the plot?
To save his fortune and title, he vows he'll stop at nothing—in fact, he's all too eager to unravel the beautiful, tart-tongued Tessa Neville. She intrigues him and tempts him like no other lady ever has. With only his heart to guide him, and keenly aware that his entire future is at stake, Charles must decide: is she the woman of his dreams, or an enemy in disguise?
