A Beautiful Distraction

Hard Feelings #3

I enjoyed A BEAUTIFUL DISTRACTION, the third book in the Hard Feelings series by Kelsie Leverich. The author always does an amazing job of integrating life in the military into her stories. This one was no different, putting us with a group of men trying to deal with the aftermath of their last deployment while integrated back into a somewhat civilian lifestyle until the next assignment. That’s important for Rafe’s story, since he uses his deployments as a way of dealing with pent up emotions.

I really enjoyed Rafe and Fallon. They were almost kindred spirits in the way they face relationships with others. I liked how the moment they laid eyes on each other in Fallon's club, everything they did before that with the opposite sex went out the window. They were both closed out people, trying to protect themselves from whatever heartbreak may lay around the corner. But with each other (even unknowingly) they let those barriers down. And the chemistry between these two, it was off the charts.

This addition to the Hard Feelings series had a bit of a different tone from the other books. Both Rafe and Fallon are more serious. They are weighed down by the demons that haunt them and drive them to be the people they are today. And while I appreciate how neither of the characters have had much to laugh about, I missed the levity from the other books.

A really good read, with a couple that was very hot. Definitely one to pick up.

Book Blurb for A Beautiful Distraction

A brand-new novel in the New York Times bestselling Hard Feelings series where nothing’s more dangerous than a bad boy with a broken heart?

First Sergeant Rafe Murano did everything to the extreme. He trained harder, he fought harder, and, unfortunately, he loved harder. And falling for the wrong woman nearly destroyed him.

Home from a deployment and without his missions to consume him, Murano is ravaged by memories of his heartbreak. So he drinks until he’s numb and drowns himself in meaningless one-night stands. But they only take the edge off?.

Until he meets Fallon.

Haunted by her past, Fallon Kelly knows all too well about the desperate desire for an escape. So when she sees the tatted-up bad boy who’s one punch away from a ride in the back of a squad car, she offers him a distraction?one that quickly becomes an addiction.

Little does she know, this bad boy can love so hard, it can break her.
