Cathy Maxwell delivers a delightful historical romance with love triangle in her latest book. Elin Morris is a wonderful heroine who has flaws and strengths and her imperfections make her all the more powerful. she has a kind heart and an intelligence that is engaging. Lord Ben seems to have more weaknesses than most leading men but he is after all just a man, a man in love and it is easy to, if not overlook his failings at least forgive them. The Duke is a fascinating man, he had me tied up in knots, trying to decide if I liked him, if he was as he appeared or if he was just able to keep up a formidable facade. Each and every character in this story is engaging and informative and the bonus of a mystery made everything all the more enjoyable. The setting and the addition of some people and places not normally seen in a traditional Regency romance was enlightening and amusing. I loved that so many serious issues were dealt with in this story and were handled in such a way that made the book so pleasing. I'm looking forward to reading the next story in this series as my appetite has already been whetted by a little forshadowing. If you enjoy your historical romances chalk full of substance and superb characters you have to pick this one up.
