Layla Reyne delivers a delightful suspense story with this first in a series. Okay I have two confessions to make. The first, I'm not a big fan of the male male romance genre. The second confession, I'm impulsive and chose this book after briefly reading the description and missed that this was not a traditional male female romantic suspense. But I'm so glad I did pick this one up because it is a superbly written story, complete with well plotted storyline and fabulous characters. The story drew me in from the beginning. Aidan Talley's heartbreak was almost palatable and witnessing him talking with his sister in law just cemented me into the story right away. I felt I needed to know as much as they did just who shattered his life. Jamie made me feel a little protective, not because he couldn't take care of himself but just something about his soul called to me. Now that I've been drawn into the lives of these two I can't wait to see what happens next. I hope if you're like me and male male isn't your first choice, you give this book a read. It might just change your opinion. I know it did mine.
The Story: Aidan Talley loses his husband and his FBI partner in an accident that leaves him off duty for almost a year when he's ready for work he can't believe he's been assigned a young partner in the cyber division. Soon Jamie's skill make him a prime target of some terrorists. Now they need to save their own lives as well as innocent bystanders.
Eight months after the car crash that changed everything, FBI agent Aidan Talley is back at work. New department, new case and a new partner. Smart, athletic and handsome, Jameson Walker is twelve years his junior. Even if Aidan was ready to move on—and he's not—Jamie is off-limits.
Jamie's lusted after Aidan for three years, and the chance to work with San Francisco's top agent directly is too good to pass up. Aidan is prickly—to put it mildly—but a growing cyber threat soon proves Jamie's skills invaluable.
Jamie's talents paint a target on his back, and Aidan is determined to protect him. But with hack after hack threatening a high-security biocontainment facility, time is running out to thwart a deadly terrorist attack. They'll have to filter out distractions, on the case and in their partnership, to identify the real enemy, solve the case and save thousands of lives, including their own.
