An Affair Downstairs

A Thornbrook Park Romance, #2

Lady Alice Emerson wanted nothing to do with the suitors her family has picked for her. She finds them boring and uninteresting. But when she meets Logan, the estate manager, she can’t suppress all her desires that she’s kept hidden in her heart.

Since I am very interest in historical romance books, this book pulled me in instantly. The author’s voice was very original and unique. The plot was very interesting. The main heroine was a very determined and strong willed person. She knew what she wanted for her life. I got hooked by the time I finished the first chapter. The author did a great job with the first few chapters.

I thought the author did an incredible job at establishing a sense of time and place. When I read it I could picture and imagine the place and the time frame. Writing historical books is no easy task. Not all authors can pull it off. The pace of the story flowed really well. I am the kind of person who likes to finish a book in one seating. I was able to do that with this book and it was good and worth my time. The main character was unique and she had her own color. She wasn’t bland, annoying or boring. I liked her.

The conflict of the story was very intriguing. Lady Alice wanted something real. She wanted to do something daring in her life because of all the boring suitors her family chose for her. She didn’t want a man, but the estate manager caught her eyes and vice versa. I wanted to know what would happen to the both of them or how their love story would unfold. So I kept flipping the page until the end. Logan was a very sweet character. I couldn’t get enough of him.

Overall, An Affair Downstairs was a great read. I recommend this book to anyone who loves historical romance or to anyone who loves to read romance books.
