Carrie Norwell is all alone in the world. All the people she has loved have passed away. Her mother died then her father and now she is afraid to love again. Carrie has learned to protect her heart and block her emotions from ever feeling again. So it comes as a surprise when Billy Jay Eldridge gives her a lot of attention. She doesn’t know what she did to gain his attention but he is always around. He’s a great guy and somehow already wants her for forever. She knows it’s just an infatuation for him but something about his scintillating kisses makes her think otherwise. Can she open her heart again to a man like Billy Jay?
Billy Jay Eldridge wants two things in life. First is to find a career that gives him meaning even if it means a career in law. Second is to convince Carrie Norwell that she is the woman for him. Her shyness and intellect attract him like no other woman has done. He doesn’t know why she denies the attraction and shies away. Something in her life has traumatized her and all he wants is to have a chance with her. Just when things start to grow between them something stupid happens in his life. He knows it was his one chance but he will do everything he can to get Carrie to trust him again no matter what has happened in her life.
Joanna Aislinn created a wonderful romance between Carrie and Billy Jay. I loved that even though Carrie kept saying no at a chance at love Billy Jay still stood with her. Here is a man who knows what he wants and already knows his happily ever after is with Carrie. These two were great with each other and the bond between them can be seen from the first chapter. This is a great book from Joanna Aislinn and I can’t wait for more from this talented author.

Trust and stability became empty words the day motherless, sixteen-year-old Carrie Norwell’s brothers were murdered and her father’s heart gave out at the scene. Five years later, her barricaded heart remains virtually impenetrable to anyone willing to get close and offer what she wants more than anything: a loving family of her own.
That’s exactly what Billy Jay Eldridge wants to offer the right girl. Operating on a heart and spirit rivaled only by his looks, he’s two years out of college, managing a store and on his way up the corporate ladder. Still, he toys daily with nobler--yet dangerous--career aspirations. Then shy, quiet Carrie joins his crew. Intrigued by her haunted eyes, he sets out to know her better, unaware his life’s calling will be the greatest obstacle to getting her to accept from him what she wants and needs most.
