What an amazing book, what an amazing series. Lynn Viehl's masterful storytelling is a joy to behold.
In Twilight Fall we return to Chicago and the Darkyn lord Valentin Jaus. When we first met Valentin in Private Demon, we learned that he had accidentally infected a human, Jema, with the vampire virus and she slowly transformed. He was in love with her but she didn't return his feelings and fell in love with another Darkyn, Theirry. Thierry and Valentin fight a duel over Jema and Valentin loses. One of his arms is useless as a result of the duel. In Twilight Fall, he meets Liling Harper, a landscaper at a rehab hospital. She has an amazing way with plants and a powerful aura that eases the pain of the patients. What secret is Liling hiding and does it impact the Darkyn world? Will Valentin get the love he deserves?
Ms. Viehl has the wonderful ability to juggle the main characters as well as the characters from previous books without overshadowing either. The story arc of the series has slowly revealed secrets and at the same time uncovered more. If you haven't read the series, please do yourself a favor and do not start with this book. It is wonderful ride to start at the beginning with If Angels Burn and let it unfold before you. Ms. Viehl is an amazing talent, right up there with J.R. Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Nalini Singh, in this reviewer's book.
Immortal Darkyn Lord Valentin Jaus and landscape artist Liling Harper are two lost souls. Brought together by fate, bound together by passion, Valentin and Liling find solace in each other's arms. But the ties that bind them are deeper-and more dangerous-than either of them can possibly imagine.
