Ghost of the Nile

Gods of Egypt

I have been a longtime fan of author Veronica Scott’s Gods of Egypt series. Having been highly interested in Egyptian mythology for my entire life, these books came as a delightful trip through the various deities. "Ghost of the Nile", the 6th book in this magical series, takes us, once again, to Ancient Egypt. I absolutely fell in love with the characters. Periseneb

Is a strong, loyal, and incredible soldier. Neithamun is a strong, beautiful lady set in a very dangerous situation. The settings were very realistic as well. I could literally taste the dust in the breeze from the passing carts, and smell the cattle grazing nearby. I absolutely loved this book, and would recommend it highly.

Periseneb is a man on a mission. He’s a brave and valiant warrior in Pharoah’s Army, and he is finally on his way home to Heron Marsh. But before he can reach it, he is betrayed and murdered. After being approached by a Divine One, he accepts a mission to take 30 days and solve all of the problems plaguing an estate, or risk losing his soul. As he comes aware again, he’s now 200 years in the future, and immediately under attack. Neithamun has no idea who the handsome strange is, but, since he is a helpful sort, she accepts taking him into her estate. He is shocked to find that it’s Heron Marsh he’s been sent to save. As events unfold, Periseneb and Neithamun are becoming closer, while his 30 days is quickly winding to a close. Can he save Neithamun and her estate? Or will he be forever doomed to wander the Gray Lands for all time?

Betrayed, murdered, and buried without proper ceremony, Egyptian warrior Periseneb is doomed to roam the gray deserts of the dead as a ghost for all eternity.

But then the goddess of truth offers him a bargain: return to the world of the living as her champion for 30 days. If he completes his mission, he’ll be guaranteed entry into Paradise. Periseneb agrees to the bargain but, when he returns to the living world, two hundred years have passed and nothing is quite as he expected.

Neithamun is a woman fighting to hang onto her family’s estate against an unscrupulous nobleman who desires the land as well as the lady. All seems lost until a mysterious yet appealing ex-soldier, Periseneb, appears out of nowhere to help her fight off the noble’s repeated attacks.

Meanwhile, Periseneb’s thirty days are rushing by, and he’s powerless against the growing attraction between himself and Neithamun. But their love can never be. For his Fate is to return to the Afterlife, and Death cannot wed with Life…
