Force of Attraction

A K-9 Rescue Novel, #2

This exciting romantic suspense story has a wonderful twist that added to its allure and gave it an interesting dimension. The fascinating canine partners and the glimpse of what is involved in agility training is a delightful addition to the mystery and the secondary characters add great color to the story. The pain and scars that the main characters are dealing with and the dangers from the past that come back to haunt Scott, provide an emotional tug that contrasts nicely with the heat that burns between him and Cole. The ending is exciting but also provides a sad look at the dangers of the job that so many brave men and women undertake. This was an entertaining tale and I look forward to reading more stories from this author.

"Force of Attraction" by D.D. Ayres features Officer Nicole (Cole) Jamieson, a canine cop with a Bouvier partner named Hugo. Agent Scott Luca has been undercover and had his life destroyed, seen at his lowest point by his then-wife, Officer Cole, who has since reinvented herself from the woman he knew as Nikki. Each of them has moved forward and now work with k9 partners, but their unhealed wounds are complicated by their forced proximity when they need to work together to try to solve a drug smuggling case. They are prepared to face danger, but they can’t be sure who all of their enemies are, and even their allies may be casualties during the investigation, let alone their emotions and any relationship they might be rekindling.

The only thing more powerful than fear is desire…

A seasoned K-9 officer with the police in Maryland, Cole Jamison has left her old life behind her. With a new home and a new partner—a protective canine named Hugo—Cole is ready for fresh challenges. A crucial position on an important drug task force is exactly what she wants…until she discovers her gorgeous, infuriating ex-husband will be the DEA agent in charge.

Agent Scott Lucca may be a pro when it comes to undercover assignments, but this job is daunting even for him. Posing as a happy couple on the dog competition circuit means he and Cole need to get a lot closer than they’ve been in years. Playing a live-in couple should seem like a walk in the park compared to tracking a brutal criminal, but suddenly nothing could be more dangerous than the passionate fire they’ve rekindled...
