Bait Shop Blues

Cassandra Thompson, a high-heeled Marilyn Monroe look-alike city slicker from Chicago came to northern Minnesota to check out her inheritance. She understood she owned one-half of a gift shop, a legacy from her grandfather, and she was determined to make it a success. The admitted type-A go-getter, owner of her own successful business, immediately saw how she could turn the land into a resort area that would attract hundreds of vacationers.

Leif Halverson resented the intruder, granddaughter of the late Roy Thompson, his mentor and the only father he had ever known. He and Roy had run the rustic bait shop for many years. Hoping Cassandra would sell her half to him; Leif was disappointed when she moved in and started making numerous changes to Gateway to Paradise.

Hoping to drive Cassandra away, Leif challenged her to a two-week trip into the wilderness. If she made it through the trip, she would stay and could make any changes she wanted. If not, it was back to Chicago, permanently.

In Bait Shop Blues, author Nancy Pirri has written a fun insightful look at male/female relationships. The two protagonists butt heads and challenge one-another every inch of the way. With their future riding on the outcome of the wilderness survival challenge, both take the trip seriously.

Will Leif get his bait shop back along with his quiet life as a fishing guide, or will the citified interloper have her way in creating a modern resort that will destroy the wilderness forever? Read this wonderful story to find out the surprising answer.
