“Love Beyond Loyalty” is the third book in the Outsider series. The Outsiders are a race of beings who try to keep right and wrong in balance. During a battle around 30 years ago, when the Outsiders were infants, their parents sent them away to save their lives. As the leader of the Outsiders tried to send the children to a chosen warrior, the Darkness attacked and some of the children did not get to the warrior. There were 19 total Outsiders remaining, 18 children and the warrior set to raise them. Now the Outsiders are slowly finding their way to one another as the battle for Earth escalates. The newly discovered Outsiders must come to terms with their powers and their new reality as friends are pitted against one another and loyalties are tested.
Loraine Peacock is a teacher who has a special ability, to speak to animals. She finds herself rescuing a man out a freak tidal wave. As they speak and get to know each other, things that the man says strike a cord within her. The man she fished out of the water is Gabriel Wade, an Outsider who is trying to come to terms with the fact that a man he has been raised with is actually the demon the Outsiders are battling. As he comes to terms with that truth he must also decide how far his past loyalty should go. As they both learn more of their abilities and are forced to fight they will have to trust each other and the rest of the Outsiders.
Once again Ms Royce has written a book that is very easy to lose yourself in. The book has wonderful characters and a well written plot that delves deeper into the truth of the Outsiders and the battle against Darkness. The characters are so real you can almost sense them coming off the page and you can’t help but hope that all the characters get a happy ending. I can not wait to read more of this series.
When Gabriel and Loraine are forced together by the destiny he denies and she is ignorant of, they will both finally have to accept their Outsider legacy and help the others in the quest to defeat the ultimate evil--a demon bent on world domination.
Gabriel Ward has no problem with the fact that he's an Outsider. Hell, he's always known he was different. What he takes issue with, is the idea that he has to follow any destiny at all. He's always taken care of himself, and there's no way he's going to start following rules now.
Loraine Peacock can speak to animals. Other than that, she thinks she's just a regular woman making her way in the world. She figures it's not that weird. Many people have unusual abilities.
But when Gabriel and Loraine are forced together by the very destiny he denies, they will both have to accept their legacy and join the Outsiders in their quest to defeat the ultimate evil. That is, if they can survive long enough to find their way to their most important destiny of all: love.
