Macy Veralta has no idea what she’s been left by Silas McGonagall. It’s not like they were close friends. They had talked and Silas thought she would get along with his nephew, Trace. Magnificent was her first thought when she had seen Trace’s photo and now that she was actually seeing him in person, Macy isn’t sure magnificent is good enough.
Trace is sure Macy is some sort of gold digger. Otherwise, where was she when they buried Silas and why did it take her so long to show up to claim her inheritance? Whereas Trace finds Macy attractive, he’s not sure he wants to act on those feelings.
In the course of meeting, Macy learns she inherited a horse, not a small item like she thought and Trace learns that Macy has an interesting bag of toys in her trunk. But before they get anything figured out, there will be some misunderstandings and some groveling to do.
Was Silas right? Is Macy someone Trace can trust?
This is a nice short story, well under 90 pages. It moves quickly but has all the elements that you could want in a story. Nothing quick and easy but more fast and bumpy.
Macy’s character is a bit more developed than Trace’s but each comes across as fairly well rounded. Through Macy, you see how she met Silas and learn of her anticipation in meeting Trace. Trace lets his feelings show as well as his distrust towards women. However, if you look a little deeper, you’ll also see some vulnerability in each looking for acceptance and love.
Hot sex with a BDSM twist does finally make its way to Trace’s bedroom. Macy may have a bag in her car trunk but Trace has one too. Exploring their tastes in toys can be fun and hot. Neither are beginners but they don’t want to rush too fast. Savoring the feeling is more their speed, sometimes.
I really enjoyed this short story.
There were a lot more twists and bumps than I expected or that I’ve seen in a story this short yet there seemed to be plenty of room for some awesome sex scenes as well as some really good getting to know you ones. For such a few pages, there is a lot crammed in there but nothing feels rushed or crowded!
This is a perfect story for laying around on a lazy afternoon. Of course, you may not feel quite so lazy after reading it.
While I would have enjoyed having a few more pages, I think that was more of me not wanting to leave the world that was spun than anything missing in the story. I loved these characters.
