Country music star turned actor Chase Tanner is finishing up a movie based on Reno Linden’s book. He’s enjoyed the job but he’s enjoyed getting to know Reno better. Now that work is finished, he’s trying to get Reno in his bed where he wants her. He doesn’t seem to understand that Reno has said no.
Reno likes Chase and has enjoyed talking to him but that doesn’t mean that she’s going to jump in bed with him. They probably aren’t ever going to see each other again as she heads home to her family’s rural Dakota ranch and Chase will return to his music career and his Texas ranch.
After some discussion with her best friend, Reno decides to give Chase and chance and has the best night of sex that she’s ever had. Will it be enough to keep his attention?
There are more things than just physical distance keeping Chase and Reno apart. Reno is a published author and teaches while Chase dropped out of high school and barely got his GED. Each has honors in their own field but can they be comfortable when attending receptions for the other person?
This story almost feels like a clash of cultures. Reno may be from the country but her family encouraged education and learning. She can hob nob with the literary types and talk their language. Chase’s father couldn’t wait until he could work. Education wasn’t important. The last time Chase thought about going back to school his girlfriend made fun of him. He doesn’t know all those big words and hasn’t read all the books that Reno can talk about. He knows she deserves better than him.
The characters of Reno and Chase are done well. Each is sincere in their feelings but not always sure how to express themselves. Their core beliefs seem to be similar as Chase does care about others and is generous with his time. Reno wants to spread her love of the written word, even all the way to France! Family and doing the right thing is a big deal to both which causes some issues when they don’t agree what the right thing is.
There is no one setting for this book. It starts in a Hollywood movie set and moves to ranches, concert arenas and motels. In each place, the scenes are perfect and realistic.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It has lots of ups and downs which keeps it interesting. I even read it twice as I bought this book and read it prior to getting it for review. Both times I stayed glued to the page enjoying the story. Getting two careers to mesh is hard for any couple but for a couple who didn’t grow up the same and don’t live in the same state and have such diverse careers it’s especially hard. Trying to find the correct path isn’t easy which makes this story so great.
Tag along with Chase and Reno as they learn about themselves, each other and find a path they didn’t expect.
Country music superstar/actor Chase Tanner has yet to be denied anything—and he's never wanted anything or anyone more than gorgeous screenplay writer Reno Linden. So when the film they are working on is finally finished, Chase decides to turn up the volume on seducing Reno.
Reno Linden lived a quiet, rural life until she was thrust into the Hollywood scene when her book was adapted to film. Chase Tanner is larger than life, sinfully sexy and hell-bent on getting her into bed. Skittish after a failed engagement, Reno risks the plunge into Chase's arms, and is surprised that her good girl self can keep up with bad boy Chase.
Though Chase returns to his cowboy roots often, and Reno cherishes the time spent with him on his ranch, the two find their careers pulling them in different directions. Will their attraction survive the glitz and stress of fame?
