The author did an excellent job building a complex world and populating it with diverse groups and creatures. I enjoyed the way in which the story flowed and the fact that we witness a significant battle at the beginning of the book that effectively changes the routine - status quo to “status go”. The young protagonist, forced to make difficult choices, quickly adopts a mantle of compassion and wisdom. Frankly, I got a bit lost in the explanation of the trinity and the powers incarnate in each. The esoteric ability to step between dimensions stretched my ability to suspend disbelief to its limits – most likely because I never fully grasped some of the metaphysical aspects. This entertaining and thought-provoking adventure is sure to appeal to a wide demographic of fantasy fans.

Sheltered her entire life, and innocent, Kiana is thrust into circumstances in which every decision has consequences that may worsen the situation suddenly thrust upon her. The path to peace and healing is narrow and cluttered with obstacles. Wolves, intent upon her destruction, are in hot pursuit, and one crazy mage will not rest until she and the renegade are dead. Kiana and a few singularly mismatched companions learn some startling truths, but the real trick will be convincing a world divided by hatred that a peaceful coexistence may be within grasp, after all.
