When I picked Perfect Mate up, it seemed at first glance to be a bit too military for my reading tastes. I was sorely mistaken. While there is a large military presence in the novel, there is more than enough humor and love as well as adventure to satisfy any reader. The characters are strong and independent, and the storyline is flawless and could easily lead to another novel. The supernatural aspect is very strong, and very well written and explained. The love scenes are scorching in their intensity. This is a novel that is truly a treat to read, and one that readers will adore as much as I have.
Hospital administrator Lillian Rosewood is shocked to see a gorgeous, half naked, seriously wounded soldier is wheeled into her facility and she is quite unceremoniously booted from his treatment room. But not before she learns his name. Jack Harper is the wounded soldier, and Lillian knows there is something different about him. When Lillian is attacked by a doctor in Jack’s hospital room, Jack knows he can let nothing happen to her. Jack knows something Lillian does not. She is his destined mate. After an alarm sounds and the hospital is under siege from the military organization in charge, Lillian and Jack must learn to trust each other and work together to save colleague and friend alike, and also save each other and their love.
Monsters do exist...and they’re the good guys.
Lillian Rosewood leads an ordinary, boring life working as the manager of a psychiatric hospital. The highlights of her day, other than her skinny hot chocolate, are the hunky guards who work in the secure section. Until a late-night emergency is wheeled in.
Captain Jack Harper is insane, drop-dead gorgeous...and just had his abdomen shredded. Despite the fact they're not an emergency room, Lillian can't turn him away and risk a death on her hands. Unable to get the handsome soldier out of her mind, Lillian sneaks into the restricted area to check on him. What she finds is beyond belief. Somehow Jack has managed to heal himself from a near-fatal wound in mere hours.
When one of the doctors, Walker, attempts to rape her, things go from bad to worse. In the blink of an eye, Jack is loose and Walker is dead... and Lillian must accept a truth about her rescuer that will change her world forever. What if the patients aren't insane? What if their stories of secret government experiments and monsters are true?
Warning: Contains blood, mayhem and nude werewolves operating heavy weaponry. Large amounts of sarcasm and smart-ass vampires may offend some readers. No civilian hospital staff were harmed in the making of this story.
