The Bridegroom Wore Plaid

This is a great start for this new series, The MacGregor Trilogy. I loved this enchanting tale of love in Scotland. The author put a new twist on an old storyline. The story offered a wonderful love story with lots of intrigue that made it fast-paced as well. Her eloquent dialogue kept the story flowing like fine wine.

Ian MacGregor is an impoverished Earl in dire need of a wealthy bride. Unfortunately, he can't fight his attraction to his intended’s spinster cousin. Instead of wooing his reluctant bride he is finding it hard to keep his hands and lips from the lovely Miss Augusta. While I adored this story (I truly did) I still found myself frustrated with Augusta's naiveté. Seriously....the girl let her devious uncle rob her blind by not once questioning her financial circumstances. Apart from that one small peeve I found this to be an charming tale. The romance between Ian and Augusta built very slowly despite their fierce attraction. The romance between the secondary characters kept the fires going , though. I can't say that the plot involving the uncle came as any surprise. This reader caught those subtle nuances from the start.

Above all this was a tale of sweet romance, several of them. How wonderful that the author gave all of those endearing characters their very own HEA. It was a lovely story. It is a fast read and was easy review. I'll be following this series, although, I'm not sure who is left for the other books to feature. There is the missing brother, Asher, most assuredly. I guess I'll just have to wait and find out.

I highly recommend The Bridegroom Wore Plaid for all fans of the historical romance genre.
