Wolf Tracker

After the Crash, Book 3

Tami’s plane went down in flames and if that wasn’t bad enough it landed in the future. And the future is bleak. Walking with another woman to find help she and her companion are stunned to find themselves sold off as wives to groups of men. Her companion takes her life rather than endure, but Tami is made of sterner, and more stubborn, stuff. When she is given a chance to escape she takes it, not really believing she’s in a post-apocalyptic future.

Tracker is hired to return a stolen wife. This is a serious offense, and the man paying is offering a fortune. When he finds Tami, the subterfuge he sensed when he was hired becomes clear. Tami was abused and raped by the man who was supposed to cherish her. And he shared her with others as well who also harmed her. Determined to protect her as she should be he takes her to his people, hoping to court her and make her his own. Can he help her get past what was done to her?

What a dismal depiction of how the human race changes due to circumstances. It is also at times hopeful. The so-called civilized people are worse than the shapeshifters who are evolving. Tami ends up under the protection of a pack of shifters and while it is disturbing at first she comes to admire them for their uniqueness as well as how they revere women. While this was not a happy cheerful read, and at times downright depressing, it also showed that no matter how bad things are there can still be joy. If you are expecting instant hot sex you need to look for a different read. The book was about 2/3 done before the hero and heroine even kiss. But they need to build trust after what was done to Tami, so that was actually a relief. The author was gentle in her treatment of Tami unlike some other books I’ve read where the heroine has been abused. All in all a good read and a welcome addition to the series.

Book Blurb for Wolf Tracker

Strong, independent Tami was a survivalist and mountain guide in 2014 when she was flung forward fifty years into a post-apocalyptic future where women are worth their weight in gold. She is taken by four men to be their wife, but when she escapes from them they hire the Tracker, a deadly loner from the Clan with a reputation for being able to track anything, to bring her back. But Tami knows how to ride and how to hide, and she leads him on a chase that rouses his admiration. Behind Tracker’s stone-cold face is a man who yearns for a wife of his own. When he catches up with Tami and learns that she is not a willing wife, he knows he can’t give her up.
