Sam Compton is a wizard on Wall Street but made a bad investment when it came to a future wife. Raised on a ranch he always knew what he didn't want to do with his life. First chance he got he headed to a different life and has stayed in the big city ever since. Now with his personal life in a shambles and the fallout destroying his professional life as well, he's going home and his timing couldn't be better. Or worse. His dad is dying and needs his boys home to support him and help run the Compton empire. He's at the lowest point of his life, so why does fate decide to further complicate things?
Cindi Middleton has secrets but has found a home and acceptance at Compton Ranch. Working in the ranch office she's found her niche and is happy. She plays with the cowboys and has her little house on the hill. Why then when Sam returns home and she meets him for the first time she feels she's been just waiting for him? The timing couldn't be worse but the chemistry is so strong. As they take two steps forward they also take one back. Now is not the time for life-changing decisions. But then when is?
Sam followed in his older brothers footsteps and headed out to find his own destiny at the age of eighteen. He's discovered a lot of things about himself and fulfilled a lot of the goals he set himself. When faced with his father's mortality though he takes a hard look at what was once so important and wonders what he was thinking. The betrayal of his co-worker and potential mate was actually a blessing in disguise and after some soul searching he starts to move forward. Cindi is something he couldn't have planned on and he's at a loss as to how to proceed. The timing seems all wrong but he needs her.
Cindi has a very nice set of baggage as a result of a heinous childhood. Emotionally scarred she's set propriety aside in pursuit of happiness and satisfaction. Her methods may be unorthodox but they work for her. What will Sam think when he discovers her need for public group sex? It feeds a void in her that she's not sure she can do without. Will they stop before they actually start?
Talk about a minefield. Sam and Cindi are two sides of a coin and it takes a lot of trust to get where they can reveal their true selves. My question was how did Cindi get to the point where she was intimate with all the cowboys? That would have been an interesting story to be sure.
As Sam and Cindi tiptoe around each other it just illustrates how important they are to one another. Caution when it matters is a big sign they both should have heeded as an indicator of the other's importance. With some humor, an old-fashioned courtship on the front porch and a cat fight in the dirt this was a good read that was lighter on the frequency of sex but when it happened it was epic. Sam and Cindi are unconventional to be sure but that's just what makes them perfect for each other.
He’s lost everything. Can he win her heart?
Sam Compton never liked getting his hands dirty, at least not on Compass Ranch. Armed with a business degree, he’s about to become the youngest VP at an illustrious Wall Street investment firm. Until his partner in an office romance turns into an ultra-refined snake in the grass.
Staggering from the punch of betrayal, another blow threatens to level him. His father is dying. He races home to lend his brain to his brothers’ backs at the ranch, and finds something he never expected. A sophisticated yet playful woman stimulates his mind…and parts below the belt.
Compass Ranch gave Cindi Middleton’s wounded soul everything it needs: a home, acceptance, and respect—not to mention unlimited sex—from the ranch’s sexy cowboys. Despite their instant and intense sparks, Sam’s defection to the bright city lights she left behind is a big red flag. She’s been there, done that, burned the T-shirt.
Yet the heat of their attraction brings them circling back to each other’s arms…until a certain snake reappears, threatening to endanger the acquisition of the one thing Sam has realized is truly priceless.
