Isabella Connor is the penname of Val Olteanu and Liv Thomas.

Current Release: Beneath an Irish Sky

Describe your current release in two sentences?

In 'Beneath an Irish Sky,' different worlds collide with dramatic results when a young Irish Traveller arrives in an affluent English village with revenge and justice on his mind.

Tell us a cool fact about your current release.

Beneath an Irish Sky' was written by two authors - Liv Thomas and Val Olteanu. Our pen-name is Isabella Connor.

What are you working on?

A second novel, which is almost finished. It’s set in the same fictional Hartswood Hill area as ‘Beneath an Irish Sky,’ but in a different village with different characters. Again, we have a stranger coming into a village and turning everything on its head.

Is there an author or book that has greatly influenced your writing?

I don't know about direct influences on my writing, but Patricia Scanlan, Maeve Binchy, and Lesley Pearse, amongst others, have certainly inspired me.

What one food could you not live without?

Chocolate. No one should have to live without chocolate.

Who is your intended audience?

Beneath an Irish Sky' will appeal to people who like a mixture of mystery and romance.

As a reader: Do you gravitate toward buying eBook or Print?

Both. I buy lots of eBooks, but if it’s a book I particularly like, I’ll buy the print version, too. You can’t beat a real book.

Who is the coolest character in your latest book?

Luke Kiernan – an Irish Traveller with eyes of blue, a heart of gold, and an attitude.

Outside of writing - Do you have a hobby?

Reading - novels from the past and the present. For pleasure and for inspiration.

Do you judge books by their covers?

An intriguing cover can certainly make me pull a book off the shelf and check out the blurb. However if a book has been recommended to me by friends, or I find great online reviews about it, I'll buy the book, even if the cover is average or dull.

Would you time jump into the past or into the future?

Probably the past because I'd have the advantage of knowing something about the time I ended up in. Forewarned is forearmed. I'd prefer to time jump with The Doctor, though, because I know he'd rescue me if I got into trouble.

The support from readers for ‘Beneath an Irish Sky’ has been overwhelming and much, much appreciated.

Hopefully, the next novel, as yet untitled, will be available in the second half of 2014. Check out the website of our publisher, Choc Lit, for updates.
