Current Release: Blood Moon

What's your book about?

The sequel to the Aug. 2013 release Red Moon continues the story of the Sinclair pack. Connor Sinclair appears to be the successful, seductive owner of Vegas’s hottest new casino, but is desperately hiding the truth: he is a broken man. Years of systematic abuse at the hands of his unstable lycanthrope father have left Connor torn between two worlds and completely incapable of controlling his inner wolf. When he openly sides with his brother Flynn, his father’s rage is unleashed with dire consequences and the woman Connor believes he’ll never deserve is caught in the cross-fire. Dana Patterson is determined to prove that Connor can save himself from the darkness lurking in his past. As Rupert’s attacks increase in frequency and cruelty, Dana learns that the war’s roots go far deeper than she or Connor could have ever imagined. If they both intend to survive the secrets that have been brought to light, Connor will need to decide whether he is truly the monster his father created, or the man Dana knows is hidden within the beast.

What should readers expect from you titles?

My romances are dark, moving, and original. I love to flip traditional romantic elements on their heads and believe that the best stories feature deep characterization.

What books have you analyzed to help grow yourself as an author?

I was fortunate to grow up in a house of English teachers and family members who adored reading and introduced me to a wide range of literature. Some of the books I go back to year after year to examine and enjoy are "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning, "A River Runs Through It" by Norman Maclean, "A Streetcar Named Desire" by Tennessee Williams, and "Hamlet" by William Shakespeare. These stories inspire me with their language, their characterization, their dialogue, and their ability to connect a wide range of readers together with human experiences.

What's next for you as an author?

Currently I'm working on revisions for an SFR novel that's the first in a parallel series to my Nov. 2013 release "Lace & Lead." I've been having a blast writing this one. It's about a spec ops team that is banished to the worst post in the Republic and follows their adventures there. Balancing all the characters and throwing myself into the world building has been the best part of my recent work.

If you could have dinner with an author, who would it be?

I would love to have dinner with Norman Maclean. His novella "A River Runs Through It" changed my life. One of my college professors was fortunate enough to fish with Maclean before he passed away. This professor mentioned that Maclean was one of the kindest, gentlest men he had ever encountered and I would have loved to meet him.

Do you feel music has inspired your writing?

If I didn't have music, I wouldn't be able to write...at least, not in the same way. One of the first things I do when I'm starting a new story is to sit down and put together a specific playlist. Sometimes a song will inspire a story by giving me the flash of an image or an emotion that I can turn into a scene.

What is your favorite or most fun place to shop online?

One of my favorite places to shop online is The Book Seller. This is the independent bookstore in the town where I grew up and I love to provide them continued support in thanks for their efforts to support others and communities. http://www.thebookseller.biz
