Hi Janna. It's a pleasure to have you stop on over and chat with us. What is your book "The Bad Luck Bride" about?
The Bad Luck Bride, aka Lady Claire Cavensham, believes in curses, specifically she believes she’s cursed. After three failed engagements, she discovers her fourth fiancé has just jilted her at a very public ball. Alex Hallworth, Marquess of Pembrooke, swoops in like a knight in shining armor and declares in front of everyone that Lady Claire has agreed to marry him. Completely shocked, Claire walks away not believing he’s serious. Oh, but Alex is quite serious. He is determined to marry Claire as an act of vengeance against her fourth fiancé who Alex believes mistreated his sister. What appears as a simple marriage of convenience quickly turns into something special between Claire and Alex. However, when Claire discovers the truth behind his proposal, the couple must fight to save their marriage if they want a happy ever after.
At what point did you know you wanted to publish a book?
When I finished law school, I clerked for a federal judge. I knew when I finished working for him, I wanted to write a romance. When I shared that dream with another judge's clerk, she laughed me out of the courthouse. Then some twenty years later, I walked into the 2013 RT Convention in Kansas City and took a Cherry Adair plotting class just for the fun of it. By the end of the week, I knew I was going to write Claire and Alex's story.
Is your home a place of order or chaos?
Without a doubt - order. However, my family has a different opinion. They swear everything is in complete disorder and upheaval . They may be right! LOL! Trust me, when they want something, they come to me. I know where everything is.
What genres do you write in and what inspired you to write in these genres?
I write historicals set in the Regency period. I've always loved Regency romances. My mom used to bring home sacks of Barbara Cartland novels for me to read. I guess she's to blame for my love of greatcoats, buckskin breeches, kid gloves, and a proper tea tray.
What is our favorite drink?
a.m. - Coffee/p.m. tea or Diet Coke.
What is your writing place like?
Chalkboard walls, 2 desks, 3 computers
What's next for you as an author?
Hopefully, I'll continue writing The Cavensham Heiresses series. I finished the first three books, and have two more stories in this series I'd like to write. My next series is starting to take shape. I'm really excited as I think it'll be fun to write.
