Hi Karen! Thanks for joining us on NOR. What's your book about?
BREATH OF MALICE centers around an inexperienced FBI agent who catches the eye of a serial killer and becomes his next target. It's a game of cat and mouse . . . and she's losing.
What should readers expect from your titles?
My books are a blend of suspense and romance, but predominantly romance. I enjoy reading and writing emotional reads and my books reflect that.
Getting a book to market often takes a village. Who has helped you on the way?
This question really hits home for me. I have so many people to thank.
My husband and daughter have been wonderfully supportive, even at the start when I was doing nothing more than scribbling notes on scrap paper.
I have the best readers and I feel fortunate and grateful to every one of them. They take time to write to let me know they’ve enjoyed a book and to ask when the next one will be available. Added to that, they share bits of their lives with me. I treasure the friendships I’ve formed with my readers.
Bloggers and reviewers have given very generously of their time, sharing and promoting my books and I’m so thankful to all of them.
I’ve met wonderful people while conducting research. Each time I’ve needed research help, experts in the various fields have gone above and beyond to share their knowledge. Any realism and authenticity that my books have would not be present without the help I’ve received from those generous and kind individuals.
I’ve also had the pleasure and the privilege of working with strong teams of editors over the years. With BREATH OF MALICE, I’m very grateful to the editors who took time to ensure this book was the best it could be. And, of course, writers all want their books to be read. In order for that to happen, readers need to know about the books. BREATH OF MALICE has had the benefit of dedicated and strong marketing and public relations teams to spread the word. I am so thankful for all they’ve done and continue to do.
Do you have a favorite or interesting reader meet moment?
Yes, I do! Of all places, I was at a clinic having a procedure done and a nurse recognized my name. She’d read my books and we chatted about them while I was awaiting my turn to be called. You never know when you’ll have the pleasure of meeting a reader. :)
What's a writing day like for you?
I spend the morning attending to business matters. In the afternoon, I turn off the internet and write until dinner time. After dinner, I return to writing and I end my day responding to reader email and reader posts on Facebook and Twitter. I always save reader interactions, saving the best for last. :) I love being in touch with readers and it’s a treat for me to be able to spend time with these wonderful people.
What's next for you as an author?
I also write a romantic suspense series called The Protectors. GUILTY, Book 5, will be out at the end of this year. Right now, I’m outlining the next Protectors book.
It has been a pleasure having you over Karen.
