Kaylin McFarren is the pen name for Linda Yoshida, a Portland, Oregon resident whose novels include Flaherty’s Crossing, and the Threads series: Severed Threads, Buried Threads, and the upcoming Banished Threads. Mrs. Yoshida discovered her passion for writing while in college, but didn’t consider it again until her late 40’s and the kids were out of the house. She has earned more than a dozen literary awards and was a 2008 finalist in the prestigious RWA® Golden Heart contest. She is a member of RWA, Rose City Romance Writers, and Willamette Writers.
Prior to her writing career, during the early 1980s, Mrs. Yoshida helped her husband in the marketing and development of Yoshida’s Gourmet Sauce. The well-known teriyaki-based cooking sauce led to the development of their first company, Yoshida Food Products. Now, the Oregon-based Yoshida Group is a multimillion-dollar conglomerate.
Mrs. Yoshida also owned and ran an award-winning 5,000 square foot art gallery representing contemporary and traditional/impressionist artists in downtown Portland, Oregon for eight years.
A believer of giving back to the community, Mrs. Yoshida and her husband Junki created the Soulful Giving Foundation where funds generated within the foundation are earmarked for expanded research, and the care and treatment of cancer patients and their families.
