Marian Harasta is a weather mage although she doesn't know the depth of her power. Her teacher Golden Raven has told her that to open up her power she would need to conduct a moon ritual that would need to happen tomorrow night. And that it would be a life changing experience for her and her brother, Andrew who has MS. What Golden Raven doesn't know is that when Marian does the ritual it is going to take her to another place in time to Lladrana another world where magic takes place over all else. Where you can hear someone's very life force beating like a song and each is different. Also a place where monsters threaten the very existence of the planet and look like nothing we have seen before.
The sorcerers and sorceresses of Lladrana have summoned her an exotique to help them stop the horrors that are coming through a hole that has been breached in the very existence of time and space and to remove and quell this darkness. Marian keeps telling her teachers she is not going to stay that she wants to go home and as soon as she helps them she wants to go home. She must go home because of her brother Andrew who she loves very much. She also finds out from her teachers that have been helping her to learn magic and fighting that she may be able to find a cure for her brother's problem. She still has wanted to go home all this time although she has found a place of her own and feels more at home here than she did on earth.
The Sorceress of Faith is a compelling book of love and compassion. It shows us all that there can be a little magic for all of us and that we all just have to look harder and sometimes within ourselves. Robin D. Owens shows us through wonderfully written and in depth characters that this can be true for anyone you just have to look. I will definitely look for more of her books to see what else she will want to teach us.
With the sounding of the chimes, an exotique is called . . . With the world of Llandrana threatened by encroaching evil, the Sorcerers must do the unthinkable -- Summon an outsider to stop the insidious Darkness slowly taking control of their land, and poisoning the Sorcerers themselves. Yet instead of a powerful warrior, grad student Marian Harasta arrives through the portal, finding herself in the center of a struggle between Sorcerers who want to use her incredible, untapped powers to augment their own. As she fights to maintain her independence -- including facing her first magical duel -- she must decide whom to trust . . . Still, the darkness will not be ignored, and a desperate Marian must offer the Sorcerers aid in order to keep alive the chance to return home. Because divided all will surely fall . . .
