Vanquished

Hell Kat, #1

Kat is a Treasure Hunter and is good at what she does. The problem is that she is good, smart and very sexy. She can also take care of herself better than most men. She can take care of herself in most sticky situations even though she does have a partner to help her out.

Damian was a slave. He was loaned out for favors other than his normal duties of errands and cleaning the shop. When she found him he was hanging from the ceiling as a punishment for stealing. She had bartered for his release from the owner of the shop and then he worked for her helping to find relics and such treasure for money and etc.

Kat also has a sexual appetite that few can match, but Damian is one of the few that can. They live in a post-apocalyptic world, where to live comfortably you must have money and lots of it. Kat wants to be one of these people and to do this she has to get the big score and get the big payoff. Trouble is her biggest rival; Hades is going after the same big payoff, The Monolith. Hades is big, mean and sexy and will give her a run for the payoff.

The Monolith can be found in the Vanquished city. Kat and Damian need a guide to get them there. They go to a tavern to find the guide they think will take them to the Monolith and see that Hades has come to see the same guide. While they are talking with Darquiel Hades dumps a bag of coins on the table trying to get her to take him instead of Kat and Damian. Kat explains that she has already accepted another offer. They start arguing in front of her. The guide asks Damian if Kat and Hades are going to fight and if so would Hades hurt Kat. Damian remarks not his Hell Kat, at which point Hades and Kat come to an agreement although Darquiel still advises them she will not go to Vanquished City. Kat and Hades decide they will still go to the Vanquished City on their own, to get the Monolith on their own. While they are preparing to leave for the vanquished city the next morning Darquiel advises them she will take them to a part of the city they can enter easily.

On the way there Darquiel appears to be getting sick and later on that evening they come to find out she is a vampire but not in the sense that we know. She is not a vamps of myth and legend. These vampires still have most of the symptoms of normal type vamps. They have strength, quick movement, a thirst for blood and sensitivity to light. Garlic, holy water and bursting into flames at the touch of light are not quite in the cards for these vampires. These vampires are afflicted with a blood virus. They are slower during the day than at night when they become livelier. Darquiel explains to them what they will find in the vanquished city and what happened to her there too. Kat and Hades do not like Darquiel being around at all because of her Vampiric form and voice their opinion. Damian however has a soft part for her because she is so vulnerable because of her lowered defense rate. When they get to the vanquished city they find more than they are bargaining for.

Vivi Anna weaves a very interesting tale of love, treasure hunting and vampires. She makes it hot, steamy and full of action. She keeps you on the edge of your seat through the whole book and keeps you guessing page after page with what will happen next. Hell Kat is a page-turning story that you will love to put on your keeper shelf.
