Game for Marriage

Game for It, #1

"The Mighty Jared Quinn was a ******* superstar. His star might be a little tarnished, but she was just the right amount of shine to make him bright again. He hoped."

He had "heartbreaker" written all over him.

She had "controlled chaos" written all over her.

Bring these two independent, determined individuals together and sparks are definitely going to fly. With so much riding on each of their shoulders, coming to an agreement of sorts seemed to be an easy fix to both their problems. If only the physical attraction wasn’t so strong and undeniable then spending a year together as a pretend married couple would be easy, but if they stay out of each others way then they can manage. However, if it’s too good to be true then it generally is and before Jared and Sheridan realize it they’ve fallen for their sham of marriage just like the rest of the world. So has the endgame changed or will they crack under pressure?

Coming together on a physical level wasn’t the problem for these two, but coming together on an emotionally intimate and vulnerable level scared both of them tremendously. Seemed to be that trust was the most prevalent issue aside from both Jared and Sheridan’s professional troubles. When problems arise throughout the story, Jared and Sheridan defensively retreated too quickly and stubbornly wanted to stay that way. It takes a little outside help to have these two seeing the light again, but I really enjoyed the push and pull of this romantic dramedy. The bad boy and the good girl combining to influence each other in the sweetest and sexiest of ways was really too good to put down once I got started.

Aside from my wanting a bit more conflict in the conflict, this was a fantastic read. I could definitely see this playing like a movie and the consistent switching of POV’s kept the storyline moving swiftly. The two main characters and a couple of the secondary characters are likable and give the story it’s keeper shelf potential just by having the right amount of alpha male testosterone and independent female with a dash of quirkiness. Now I really can’t wait to read more about Jared’s teammate and friend Nick, and Sheridan’s friend Willow’s mysterious relationship. Lots of denial going on there already, so if that’s the next couple in the series then it should be great read.
