Temptation is the first book in the Natalie’s Edge series by R. B. O’Brien.
Natalie is a business owner who lives with her boyfriend. She is at a place in her life where she should be happy and content however she is missing something in her life and meeting Michael in the elevator on the way to her business shows her what she is lacking. Michael loves control and Natalie enjoys submitting to him.
The beginning of the story leaves you wanting to know more. By the end of the first chapter, I could not wait to finish the book. The author did a wonderful job of drawing the reader in to her world. The world she creates is very realistic. The pace of the story starts out slow but picks up speed as the story goes along.
The main characters and the secondary characters were realistic and fascinating. I loved that both Natalie and Michael are not perfect but together they fit. The point of view stays with Natalie all the way through the story. I enjoyed getting into Natalie’s head and seeing the story through her eyes. The main conflict of the story is Natalie’s falling for Michael. It kept me wanting to know more because of how crazy her feelings for Michael were even when Natalie had a boyfriend at the time. It gives you a glimpse into people’s mindset who cheat on their significant other. The dialogue between the characters was genuine and distinctive. The characters voice matched not only the setting but fit their overall personality. The ending was a bit predictable but the author takes the reader on a wonderful journey. I hope we get to see these characters again in the future.
He didn’t think he was capable of love; she thought she had everything she ever needed. But when former ballet dancer and entrepreneur Natalie Smith and environmentalist Michael Black meet, they are thrust into a headlong relationship that may devastate them both.
Falling almost too fast for this enigmatic, controlling man, Natalie is both excited and terrified by the fine line Michael walks between his dark and light side, as he introduces her to a world of games, bondage, and punishments. And to her surprise, she likes her submission. She likes the control he wields. And he cannot have it any other way. He likes to bring Natalie to the edge, and she likes the edge he brings her to. Pleasure has never felt so good.
But can Michael fully let go of his trust issues and fall in love? Or will his past leave Natalie on the edge of pain?
