Crash & Burn

Cut & Run, #9

It’s been five years since Ty and Zane have met and were placed together to solve the Tri-State murders. Now the unlikely couple are engaged and planning a future together. Zane has the job he always wanted in the FBI and now has one last crime to solve while Ty attempts to fix the bookstore they are going to open. However, Zane last mystery ends up dragging Ty in as well as some of the other members of Sidewinder. All together they will solve this last mystery.

The beginning of the story leaves you wanting to know more. By the end of the first chapter, I could not wait to finish the book. The author did a good job of drawing the reader in to her world. She did a great job of making it very realistic. The pace of the story was fast right from the first page to the last page. The main characters and the secondary characters were exciting and true to life. Both Zane and Ty had faults that they each had to battle making them realistic. The point of view alternated between Ty, Zane as well as Nick, giving the reader a glimpse inside all of the characters. The changing point of view was done with care so the reader did not get lost or repeat story lines.

The conflict of the story not only keeps the story moving but also entertained all the way through. The character’s motives fit the story line. As the conflict built it was never overwhelming but it does keep you wondering. The dialogue between the characters was genuine and distinctive. The characters voice matched not only the setting but fit their overall personality. The ending was not predictable in the least. I was kept in suspense all the way through. I hope we get to see these characters again in the future.

Crash and Burn is the ninth book in the Cut and Run series by Abigail Roux. While this book is part of a series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel with ease. However, its best read as part of the series.
