Bittersweet

Jenna Baker survived a car accident that took the life of her husband Tyler. After over a year of mourning, she travels with a friend to Ireland where she meets the man of her dreams, Brady. They spend weeks together and fall in love. However, life is not all that is seems and Jenna wakes up back in the hospital and the impossible happens and Tyler is alive. Now Jenna has to figure out what to do next.

The beginning of the story leaves you wanting to know more. At the end of the first chapter, I could not wait to finish the book. The author did a good job of creating a realistic world and drawing the reader into it. The author was able to establish as sense of location. The pace of the story was a bit slow at some points and fast is others. The main characters and the secondary characters were exciting and realistic. I liked that both Jenna and Tyler each had faults that they had to deal with making them realistic. I just wish we got to know Brady better.

The point of view stayed with Jenna from the first page to the last. I would have liked to see things from either Brady or Tyler’s point of view. The main conflict of the story is Jenna navigating her life while she has premonitions. The biggest issue I had was it was she seemed to wait for her premonitions to come true rather than work to stop or solve the issue. Also I had a hard time following the book at some points. The dialogue between the characters was honest and unique. The characters voice matched not only the setting but fit their overall personality. I liked that I was kept guessing as to how this book would end. I hope we get to see these characters again in the future.
