Alpha Coder

Geek Pack Book 1

Alpha Coder is the first book in the Geek Pack series by Kathryn Sparrow.

Liam Reed is the second son of an Alpha werewolf. He never expected to be an alpha but when his brother dies, he takes control of the pack. Liam is a man who would rather be in front of a computer than running a pack. Cody Jones is a junior in collage on his first internship. Cody never expected to meet his mate so soon in his life when he has not really had a chance to live it. He also did not expect a man much less an alpha. Can these two make it work?

The beginning of the story leaves you interested in knowing how this will turn out. At the end of the first chapter, I could not wait to finish the book. The author did a wonderful job of drawing the reader into the world she created. This world is very vivid and realistic despite the paranormal characters. The pace of the story was a steady pace, not too fast or too slow. The main characters and the secondary characters were exciting and believable. I loved that both Cody and Liam each had issues that they each had to work through making them realistic.

The point of view alternated between Liam and Cody, giving the reader a glimpse inside both characters. The changing point of view was done with care so the reader did not get lost or repeat story lines. This book had a complicated storyline. On one hand there is the romance between Liam and Cody, and the other is the past that will not stay buried when someone is trying to kill Liam. The level of conflict is perfect, not too much or too little. The characters fit the storyline very well. The dialogue between the characters was genuine and distinctive. The characters voice seemed to match not only the setting but also seemed to fit their overall personality. The ending was a bit predictable but the author takes the reader on a wonderful journey. I hope we get to see these characters again in the future.

Book Blurb for Alpha Coder

As the second son, Liam Reed never expected to be a werewolf Alpha. He preferred to develop software for Soft Corp, but when his brother Jason died in a car accident, their father forced Liam to assume leadership of the pack. Liam plans to govern with compassion, instead of ruling through fear, but pack member Bradley Karr undermines Liam’s leadership, biding his time before challenging for Alpha. Tired of pack politics, all Liam wants is to program and find his mate, but he fears that neither is in his future.

When his mate, werewolf Cody Jones, starts working at Soft Corp as Liam’s intern, sparks fly. However, a relationship with Cody could get them both fired for fraternization. And, that's not the worst problem. Cody doesn’t seem to accept Liam as his mate.

Liam’s only chance at happiness is to win Cody over while keeping their relationship a secret. But really, Cody would never stay with an introverted geek like him, an ineffectual Alpha failing to live up to his brother’s legacy. Would he?
