Perilous Pleasures

The Dark Lord has ordered Lord Ramsay to bring Zoe to him so he can pass on his power to him. Zoe must be a virgin for the ancient rite to work. Lord Ramsay was more than happy to do as he was commanded, since he would get a chance to get revenge on the woman he thought was responsible for his sister’s death years ago. What Lord Ramsay wasn’t counting on though, was having feelings for Zoe. Zoe had always been told that she was ugly, and never thought that someone would be able to love someone like her, with a face scarred by smallpox. Lord Ramsay finds himself very attracted to Zoe, despite who her mother is and what she did. There’s a twist in the middle, and another one towards the end.

Ms. Brown did an excellent job of portraying how superstitious people used to be in the 1800’s. The later in the century, the more people wanted to believe in all things supernatural. I love how she has worked this into the story, and if you’re familiar with history, you’ll realize that it is completely believable for the time period, no matter how it might seem by today’s standards. I am definitely going to be looking for other books by Ms. Brown.

Book Blurb for Perilous Pleasures

A Mysterious Lord under A Vow of Chastity...A Virgin Who Must Seduce Him to Save Her Life

Lord Ramsay has waited years to exact his vengeance on the scheming courtesan who sent his sister to the guillotine. Now the courtesan's grown daughter is completely under his control. Her virginity is essential for the ancient rite that will give him the mystical powers he's worked to master since his sister's death. But Ramsay isn't prepared for the vulnerable, courageous woman he finds--a woman with powers of her own.

Zoe has only one weapon against the fate that awaits her...seduction. Only that will rid her of the virginity Ramsay so prizes. Yet even as Zoe uses her charms to bewitch her abductor, Ramsay's haunted, Pisces soul weaves a sensual spell around her too. Soon, the two will be bound together by a passion as bright as the stars--and locked in a desperate struggle against an ancient sorcery that can only be vanquished by love.
