For the Love of a Goblin Warrior

Shadowlands series, #3

For the Love of a Goblin Warrior is the third book in the Shadowlands series by Shona Husk. I feel that Ms. Husk outdid herself in this book. I’ve read both previous books, and felt that this one was the best of the bunch. Meryn feels so real, he makes you want to take him home with you, even though you know he’s only fiction. Roan and Dai try to help him adjust to the present time, as well as becoming human after so many years as a goblin .Nadine was just as tortured as Meryn, by events that happened when she was only a kid. I felt that the story started out a tad bit slow, but once I got into the story, I couldn’t put it down.

Dai goes back to the Shadowlands, after the curse is broken and rescues Meryn, who was the first to fade to goblin. Meryn at first has a hard time adjusting to present day life. I suppose spending almost 2000 years as a goblin will do that to a guy. Nadine is a nurse at the hospital where Meryn is brought after being found by police. Nadine feels something for Meryn, though she doesn’t know what it is yet. Meryn has to find a way to tell her the truth about his past in a way that hopefully won’t scare her off, or worse, make her think he is crazy.

Book Blurb for For the Love of a Goblin Warrior

Centuries ago, Meryn was thought to be utterly lost—all traces of his soul given up to the ravening goblin horde. But with the curse that enslaved him now broken, he must once again learn to walk in the realm of men.

Nurse Nadine Gilbert likes working the night shift to avoid her disturbing dreams, but her mysterious new patient looks hauntingly familiar. Meryn knows he doesn't deserve a second chance, but Nadine brings out his long-buried human side. Telling her the truth about his violent past could destroy their fragile trust. Could she ever believe in the love of a Goblin Warrior? (Sourcebooks Casablanca)
