Winter Wishes Anthology is a delightfully collection of entertaining novellas from 3 exciting authors.
“Tangled Tinsel" by Vivian Arend is delicious feline shifter based novella full of dynamic sexual energy. Eloise “El” Scott has been assigned to protect a very Randy Tom who’s on the prowl. I really enjoyed this trip into the universe of the feline-shifter. One aspect of the story-line that really stands out is the familiarity and ease of both the human and non-human population. Everyone on the surface appears to play nice with each other; the story's reference to key political figures possibilities of being shifters is priceless. El and Kyle have a fabulous immediate attraction that is emphasized by their inherent cat nature. I really enjoyed their game of cat am mouse. Interwoven in the story-line is Kyle’s investigation into a new and potentially dangerous feline engineered drug. While the novella gives a brief synopsis of the investigation, it really only skirts the issue. The sexual exploits of the couple are sizzling hot and steamy full of passion, desire and carnal intensity.
"No Angel" by Vivi Andrews is a symbolic tale of redemption and the meaning of charismas. The Christmas season is upon us and with the big day just a night away, the angels have descended upon earth in a reaffirmation of faith. It seems a long time ago the angels revealed themselves to the human and traditional at Christmas they make their yearly pilgrimage. Interesting that Ms. Andrews decided to bless Sasha with the last name “Christian”; it really plays into the character’s role in the story-line. It seems that Sasha’s boyfriend, Jay, can’t make it to Christmas dinner. Riddled with fears and doubt, Sasha thinks that Jay is about to breakup with her during the holidays; that is until a vortex materializes in her kitchen and he is laterally sucked into hell. While I did enjoy the story, I found that the novella spent a considerable amount of time building the back-story and less on Sasha’s quest to retrieve Jay from hell. The novella does show some flashes of brilliance once Sasha does reach her destination; her byplay with the Geryon, Lucifer and Jezebeth were hilarious. I would have loved to experience the dialog between Jezebeth and Lucifer. All an all "No Angel” is a pleasant holiday novella.
“Freeze Line” by Moira Rodgers I believe is romantic tale of self-realization and acceptance. This was my least favorite of the three novellas. While I did start it, I was unable to finish. I found the story-line moved a little too slow for me and did not have the amount of energy that I was looking to experience.
I enjoyed the 2 of the novellas and thoroughly recommend Winter Wishes.
