“Reflected in You”, book 2 in the Crossfire series by Sylvia Day is deliciously wicked, sexy and heart wrenching!
The book takes Eva and Gideon’s relationship to an entirely new level of trust, needs, wants, desires as well as pain, misunderstanding, insecurities and doubts. Ms. Day continues to fashion a Crossfire universe where even the tertiary character has a role to play in the overall scheme of Eva and Gideon’s trials and tribulations. Although Eva is able to conquer some of her relationship issues, there are a few that still manage to rear their ugly heads at the most inopportune moments. I must say there were portions of the book that left me just as weary as our tortured dysfunctional heroine. Dam that Gideon!
Gideon’s name in the dictionary should come with the phrase, “A sex enigma with control issues”. At 28 years old Gideon Cross is on top of the business world. Personally he is a complete and utter interpersonal mess. To say he is a private man is an understatement! Although Gideon cares deeply for Eva, he has an odd way of expressing himself; who can blame him. But sometimes he is just too closed. Too secretive and always looking to be left behind in the shadows.
Reflected in You continues the ongoing dysfunctional relationship between Eve Tramell and Gideon Cross. In many ways he and Eva are exactly the same. I guess that’s what make the story-line so engaging and not just the mind blowing sex that seems to leap of the pages. These two really have to work at being together. There are moments of splendor, but sometimes they are overshadowed by the harsh realities of two recovering victims. Their past traumas stealthily encroach and intrude during intimate moments reserved for nurturing and caring; resulting in heartache and despair. If that isn’t enough of a challenge for them, sometimes the past comes back with a vengeance. But what’s love if it comes too easy. Nothing about these too is ever easy, but is sure is worth it.
If you are looking for a book with substance, heartache, and moments of intense passion! Look no further; Reflected in You is that and so much more. Can’t wait to start Entwined in You.
Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn't stay away. I didn't want to. He was my addiction... my every desire... mine.
My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We'd never work. It was too hard, too painful... except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity. We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession...
