The Birthday Gift

When Meredith, a happily married, monogamous, June-Cleaver type, believes she is being followed on the way to the grocery store, fear causes her to duck into a stranger's home.

There she meets up with an old friend who is having a get-together. When she sees two naked men playing together, it becomes obvious this is no ordinary party.

Though uncomfortable, Meredith is mesmerized by the scene. When a sexy woman kisses her, she is drawn into the tryst. Loosing herself in the experience, Meredith's guilt emerges and she realizes she should be home. Rushing back, she wonders how she'll explain where she'd been and why she doesn't have groceries.

The sexual awakening of Meredith was well done. Not wanting to give away the ending I will say this, it was a good twist. The Birthday Gift is a short story running about 15,000 words.

Book Blurb for The Birthday Gift

Meredith is a cake-baking, apron-wearing small-town Canadian mom. "What would June Cleaver do?" is the guiding principle upon which she bases her life decisions. When a curious set of circumstances cause her to crash an outdoor gathering, she stumbles upon a pair of delicious hunks getting a little hands-on with each other. Surely June Cleaver would have headed for the hills at the sight. Not Meredith. This relaxed get-together really heats up when one man’s wife appears on the scene… and encourages Meredith to join in!
