Outlaw In Petticoats

Zeke Halsey has been courting Maeve Loman, a school teacher, for over a year. While she is attracted to him, Maeve has misgivings about giving up her independence. When he shows her a tintype of his family, she is shocked to see it is the same tintype her father used to show her when he told her stories about him and his brother. This makes Maeve believe Zeke is her cousin and strictly hands off!

Unfortunately, neither of their fathers are around to ask. So the pair talks to Zeke's brothers. When their answers don't make sense compared to Maeve's memories, she decides to visit her contrary mother. While the interview with her Mom confirms she and Zeke are not cousins, it raises other questions like whether or not Maive’s father had abandoned her.

When Maive’s mother shows her a letter from her father it also opens up a window into the past and conflicting stories. Deciding she has to learn more about her father, Maeve sets out to find Barton, a man her father mentioned in the letter.

Not wanting Maeve to travel alone, Zeke comes with her.

They find Barton and end up opening old wounds. While battling criminals intent on killing them, Maeve and Zeke learn the truth about her father.

Then Maeve is handed a golden opportunity to cement the life of independence she craves and Zeke must decide how far he will go, to keep the woman of his dreams.

With its spunky heroine and interesting plot, Outlaw In Petticoats is an enjoyable read.
