Angel Lane

Angel Lane tells the heartwarming story of three women who have decided to "keep the heart in Heart Lake," the small town where they all live.

Deciding to do one extra act of kindness a day, they begin a movement. The story follows each heroine as she gives more.

In a nutshell, Sarah, a grandmother, begins a free baking class. Jamie, a chocolatier, gives her tasty treats away for free while, Emma, a quilt shop owner continues to let a particular customer slide on paying for her merchandise.

The results aren't what the women could have predicted and when a real crisis hits one of the women, will the town pull together to help her out?

For my taste, Angel Lane was a little slow but heartwarming. There was little conflict to maintain the story as many of the scenes carried on about the minutia of everyday life. That's not to say that I didn't like the characters. They reminded me of my friends. They are good people trying to make the best of their situations who were willing to put forth an effort for their community.

If you enjoy slow strolls around a pond or like sitting quietly and watching the sunset, give this book a go. But if it's tension, conflict and drama that pulls you into a story, you may want to look elsewhere. This is a book for readers who love to get immersed in little towns and get a peak inside all the comings and goings of the characters lives. It's a sweet read.

Book Blurb for Angel Lane

Keep the heart in Heart Lake. That's exactly what three small-town shop owners hope to do when they launch their crazy-ambitious "Have a Heart" campaign?asking neighbors to commit one random act of kindness every day. Sarah's free cooking class boils down to a hotbed of crime when some punk kid swipes her favorite heirloom. And at Jamie's chocolate shop, things take a bittersweet turn when a local policeman starts giving her grief, stirring up feelings she's tried to forget?and slowly melts away her defenses…
