The Way You Say My Name

Reed Series Bk 2

Dillon Carver let fear of his narrow-minded parents and friends cause him to make the biggest mistake of his 16-year-old life - walking away from James Walker. Now at 18 Dillon is determined to do whatever is necessary to get back into Jamie's life, but it appears as if Jamie has taken up with the town bad boy, Ben Lewis.

Even after two years James Walker hasn't gotten over the betrayal of the boy he loved. Sure; his best friend, Ben Lewis, helped him pick up the pieces of his shattered heart and move on with life, but Jamie still isn't ready to risk his heart on love yet.  Now Dillon is trying to get Jamie back and Ben is making broad hints about wanting to be more than friends.  What's a guy to do?  When Ben is found dead from an apparent hit-and-run, Dillon steps in to comfort Jamie.  But Jamie is determined to prove that Ben's death was no accident and soon both Dillon and Jamie are in danger.  Can their love and the support of their friends keep them safe or will the secrets of Ben's past be the last thing they ever learn?

This is the Second book in Sara Bell's Reed series.  I love the characters, blending old favorites from the first book with new players and setting the scene for more stories to come.  Ms. Bell has built a strong world but also one that makes you hope that the there really is a town and people out there that have this kind of tolerance for people living "alternate" lifestyles.  Jamie and Dillon were great, but probably my favorite character is Megan, and I can't wait to read her story.  This is a strong story about love, forgiveness, acceptance and trust. If you haven't read anything by Ms. Bell you should definitely give the reed series and this book a shot.

Eighteen year old Dillon Carver made the biggest mistake of his life two years ago when he dumped Jamie Walker over Jamie’s decision to come out of the closet. At the time, Dillon was afraid Jamie’s revelation would out him, too, and Dillon just hadn’t been ready for the world — and his narrow-minded parents — to find out he was gay. Now things are different. Dillon wants Jamie back, and he’ll do whatever it takes to make that happen. Only one thing stands in his way: Jamie’s relationship with bad boy Ben Lewis.
Two years ago, Jamie Walker’s heart was ripped to shreds when Dillon walked out on him. With help from his best-friend Ben, Jamie was able to pick up the pieces and move on. Jamie still hasn’t been brave enough to try his hand at love again — despite the fact that Ben has made it clear he’d like more from Jamie than friendship — but for the most part Jamie has been able to put the pain behind him. Then Dillon begins an open campaign to win Jamie back, and Jamie’s life is once again thrown into chaos.
