I have to admit upfront that when I saw a Nora Roberts book on the list for reviews I experienced a bit of a fan girl moment. The opportunity to get a sneak peak at the new book, along with the chance to review one of her books was a dream come true. Then I put the fan girl away and started to read. It was hard to keep her contained though because this book was riveting. The storyline was original, detailed, and honestly one of the best Nora Roberts’ books I’ve read in years. I really enjoyed the story and Ms. Roberts kept me guessing throughout the story. Once again Nora Roberts delivers a sensual romance that keeps the reader riveted.
As a girl Naomi Carson stumbled upon her father’s hidden life and exposed his crimes to the public eye. Becoming both a heroine and a social pariah at a young age has shaped the woman that Naomi has become and it seems that she can never run far enough to escape her father’s horrific past. After years of searching she’s finally found a place of solitude in Sunrise Cove and begins to settle down for the first time. Before long she is thrown into the path of local Xander Keaton. But her past is never far away and they will have to face it together before they can move forward.
The riveting new novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Liar.
“She stood in the deep, dark woods, breath shallow and cold prickling over her skin despite the hot, heavy air. She took a step back, then two, as the urge to run fell over her.”
Naomi Bowes lost her innocence the night she followed her father into the woods. In freeing the girl trapped in the root cellar, Naomi revealed the horrible extent of her father’s crimes and made him infamous. No matter how close she gets to happiness, she can’t outrun the sins of Thomas David Bowes.

Naomi can feel her defenses failing, and knows that the connection her new life offers is something she’s always secretly craved. But the sins of her father can become an obsession, and, as she’s learned time and again, her past is never more than a nightmare away.
