Rules for a Proper Governess

Mackenzies Series

Jennifer Ashley is going to thrill her fans with the latest installment of the MacKenzie series. This book features Sinclair McBride the brother of Ainsley (Camreon MacKenzie) and the adventurous Roberta “Bertie” Frasier. It’s important to note that this book is set 5 years prior to Daniel MacKenzie’s book so he is around 19 and he hasn’t yet met his match. So if you’ve read the books in order that might be a little confusing at first but quickly straightens out. The storyline of this book was inventive and the characters are true to the MacKenzie/McBride family. The pace of the story is just right and the romance between Sinclair and Bertie was heartrending, fun, sexy, and charming. Fans of the MacKenzie series will not be disappointed, as we also have the chance to visit with some of the MacKenzie favorites like Ian, Hart, Eleanor, Louisa, and Lloyd.

Scottish barrister Sinclair McBride is one of the top barristers in London. Few can get anything past him, but when he runs across Roberta Frasier he finds himself so enchanted he doesn’t realize she’s actually pickpocketed him until she is nearly a block away. When he gives chase, Roberta expects him to give up before he becomes endangered, but Sinclair doesn’t know the meaning of the word quit. He continues to pursue her even when he should give up. Roberta is intrigued, and infatuated by Sinclair, so much so that she begins haunting his block and sees his children in a perilous situation. Sinclair has had trouble keeping a governess, as his son and daughter tend to run off one a week, and sees in Roberta the possible answer to his child rearing problems. Soon Roberta is living in the house, taking care of his children, and becoming a very large temptation for Sinclair. Soon he will have to decide his future and what role Roberta will play in it.

Scottish barrister Sinclair McBride can face the most sinister criminals in London--but the widower's two unruly children are a different matter. Little Caitlin and Andrew go through a governess a week, sending the ladies fleeing in tears. There is, however, one woman in town who can hold her own.

Roberta "Bertie" Frasier enters Sinclair's life by stealing his watch--and then stealing a kiss. Intrigued by the handsome highlander, Bertie winds up saving his children from a dangerous situation and returning them to their father. Impressed with how they listen to her, Sinclair asks the lively beauty to be their governess, never guessing that the uncoventional lady will teach him a lesson or two in love.
