My One and Only is a story of lost love and reunited first loves Harper James and Nick Lowery. Harper is a divorce attorney in Martha's Vineyard and was once married to Nick who is an architect in New York. When they unexpectedly meet up again at her sister's wedding she is completely taken off guard. Then the two of them end up having to take a cross country trip together and things really get interesting.
Nick has always loved Harper, and truly believes that if they can just get it right this time they could be together forever. The only problem is that they bicker constantly and about everything. Harper's got some issues she needs to work through and Nick is a workaholic who travels a lot. Sometimes it seems it's not so much a question on if they can work it out but whether they'll have any time to work it out.
Word of warning, don't read this book when you are exhausted. You'll need all your wits to follow along with the fast pace and witty repartee. One of the things I love about Kristan Higgins books is all the fun new euphemisms and turns of phrase. Her characters are well drawn and intriguing and her stories are full of wonderful, fast-flying, cheeky interactions. My One and Only is a fun story full of wit and heartwarming moments.
Divorce attorney Harper James can't catch a break. Bad enough that she runs into her ex-hubby, Nick, at her sister's destination wedding, but now, by a cruel twist of fate, she's being forced to make a cross-country road trip with him. And her almost-fiancé back at home is not likely to be sympathetic.
Harper can't help that Nick has come blazing back into her life in all of his frustratingly appealing, gorgeous architect glory. But in Nick's eyes, Harper's always been the one. If they can only get it right this time, forever might be waiting—just around the bend.
