Bay of Sighs

Guardians Trilogy, #2

Bay of Sighs is the second installment in the Guardian Trilogy from Nora Roberts. When I selected this book to review I didn’t realize that is was the second book until I was a few chapters in, and luckily I was able to catch up quickly with the characters and story line so that book was enjoyable. What could have been just another good vs. evil trilogy had an exciting twist in that our heroine is a mermaid. You just don’t have enough mermaid books these days! Annika, our heroine is paired with space and time traveler Sawyer King and what I found particularly enjoyable about this pairing is that they are opposites in their world review. Sawyer has traveled the world, and time, seen everything and experienced both the highs and lows of mankind. Annika is pure, innocent, and everything is new and exciting to her. She brightens Sawyers world just by being herself and shining a new light on every day mundane items. The dance between these two is a thing of beauty and I really enjoyed the novel.

I really enjoyed this latest installment from Nora Roberts and will be going back to purchase the first book while I eagerly await the final in the trilogy. Once again, Nora Roberts’s remains on my auto buy list because while she may have similar themes in her trilogies she always manages to surprise me in her approach to the situations all while keeping me entertained.

The new Guardians Trilogy novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Stars of Fortune.

To celebrate the rise of their new queen, three goddesses of the moon created three stars, one of fire, one of ice, one of water. But then they fell from the sky, putting the fate of all worlds in danger. And now three women and three men join forces to pick up the pieces…

Mermaid Annika is from the sea, and it is there she must return after her quest to find the stars. New to this world, her purity and beauty are nothing less than breathtaking, along with her graceful athleticism, as her five new friends discovered when they retrieved the fire star.

Now, through space and time, traveler Sawyer King has brought the guardians to the island of Capri, where the water star is hidden. And as he watches Annika in her element, he finds himself drawn to her joyful spirit. But Sawyer knows that if he allows her into his heart, no compass could ever guide him back to solid ground...

And in the darkness, their enemy broods. She lost one star to the guardians, but there is still time for blood to be spilled—the mermaid’s in the water and the traveler’s on the land. For she has forged a dangerous new weapon. Something deadly and unpredictable. Something human.
