The Lady Is Daring

The Duke's Daughters, #3

To be honest, I have not been enjoying the author, Megan Frampton's series "The Duke's Daughters," as much as I have favored the previous series by the writer. Happily that all changed with "The Lady is Daring." I feel like this time the author nailed the story from start to finish and the romance returned as the sole star of the book.

Bennett, the hero is my favorite character. He was well-educated, a gentleman and of course sexy. Bennett is a man of breeding and for once in the history of romance novels, there was no need to make Bennett a regency bad boy. I was thrilled by this idea! Okay, I like a bad boy now again but bring on the good guys for a change and I am hooked.

Now, Ida, the heroine is a wild creature at heart! Wow. I enjoyed her character but at times she was overkill. Yet, her character was wildly different from the typical ladies of breeding that I am so over in historical romances. So thumbs up to the author for creating two characters that were uniquely different and yet still entertaining.

The romance as I mentioned earlier was the focus of this novel. It was steamy without being overbearing. There was no pushed chemistry and the attraction between the characters was believable. Bennett tamed Ida in a way that she made him live a little more. It was a perfect balance and I rooted for the duo.

Like this story, I adore the author. For the most parts, I enjoy her books and I will continue to read books published by the author for years to come.

Book Blurb for The Lady Is Daring

Five well-bred sisters, one sensational scandal. Now the Duke of Marymount’s daughter Ida is about to find love in the most unconventional way . . .

It was easy for society to overlook Lady Ida Howlett; they found her bookish, opinionated, and off the marriage mart. But little did they know that behind a calm exterior beats the heart of an adventuress, one who, determined to discover her runaway sister’s whereabouts, steals a carriage and sets off on a daring mission. Then she discovers she’s not alone! Bennett, Lord Carson, is inside, and he refuses to leave.

Lord Carson’s plans had always been to find a soft, gentle wife who would run his home and raise his children. Still, he makes a bargain with Ida—he won’t desert her during her mad adventure. He’ll make sure she’s safe, and then find a suitable lady to fall in love with. But when rules (and garments) become discarded during this long, intimate journey, it’s soon clear that this surprisingly daring lady is the woman he’s needed all along.
