I will confess that I am growing tired of the constant plots repeating within contemporary romances by authors. “Secrets at Seaside,” is yet another example of a failed second chance romance attempt that just did not have the proper foundation for an outstanding romance. To be fair I have read the last five novels in the author’s, Addison Cole’s, “Seaside Summers” series and this is the first book I have not liked.
My biggest dilemma with this book is the fact that I feel like I am just repeating the same old romance with new characters. I am so ready for something new and exciting and this novel was just too plain for me. The character were a bit off as well. First, there was Amy who has spent her whole life thinking about her first love Tony, who just happens to be the hero within the book. I felt like Amy was far more into Tony than he was into her. Amy was a little on the pushy side as she chased after Tony while reliving almost every single moment of her past throughout the book.
With Tony, I felt like he kind of sympathized with Amy more than he actually was in love with her. Tony had this carefree, surfer attitude that did not lead me to believe that he was capable of an HEA-ending with a girl like Amy who was far more concerned with her own life as well as the true definitions of her emotions.
I do want to point that this book is a cleaner read but the expense was certainly the romance itself and I wasn’t too thrilled with the idea. Yet, I will continue to read this series for the next couple of books before I make a final descision regarding my own reading.
