Mari Carr and Jayne Rylon write terrific books separately but when they get together, their books absolutely sizzle. Winter’s Thaw is no different and it will definitely thaw out any cold places that you have. This duo wrote about the Compton Family in an earlier series and now we’re introduced to the adults of the next generation. These women have minds of their own and are as tight as sisters.
Sienna is the super serious one who loves to plan things out. She’s had her life planned since she was 15 and started dating Josh. Suddenly, her world is turned on its side when her father brings home Daniel to help out on the ranch and she feels an attraction towards him. But, she’s loyal to Josh until Josh asks for a break in their relationship. Daniel sees this as a green light to explore Sienna and perhaps release some of the passion he knows is buried under her tight control. But can Sienna see herself getting involved with someone whose life goal is happiness?
Absolutely awesome introductory book to this new series. The characters that fans love from the previous series are readily apparent but don’t take over. The new characters are alive and intriguing. They’re as different as 4 women could be yet they are as close as their fathers were. Maybe because these stories are about family but the emotional pull is there in spades and you can’t help but to feel as if you are part of the story. (I’m positive that this family is out there somewhere and Ms Carr and Ms Rylon just go visit them to get their stories.)
From a scary over protective dad to a rodeo mad younger brother, Winter Thaw is more than just a love story. This is a story about a family; it’s ups and downs and everything in between. However, don’t think historical or sage because this book is neither. It’s contemporary and has a few erotic scenes that border on light BDSM. Ménage is mentioned and drinking is normal. Hot and spicy would be good words to describe the start of Compass Girls.
Sometimes life doesn’t go according to plan. Sometimes it’s better.
Sienna Compton has it all figured out. Her life’s goals are set and it is all systems go. At least, it was. Until her long-time boyfriend Josh threw a ringer into the master plan, requesting a “break” from their relationship. Now she’s left alone during the long, cold Wyoming winter, questioning what her heart has always believed to be true love.
Daniel Lennon is facing an uncertain future. When a tragic accident leaves him unable to pursue his career as a professional bull rider, he finds himself at Compass Ranch, working to help Sienna’s father, Seth, build his horse breeding business. One look at Sienna has Daniel envisioning things he never imagined wanting—a permanent home, love, marriage—and he’s willing to use all the red-hot tricks in his sexual arsenal to melt the ice surrounding Sienna’s broken heart.
When lust turns to genuine emotion, can Daniel convince Sienna to take a chance on something different and unexpected? Can he persuade her to consider a new path, one that will lead her directly to his arms…forever?
Warning: Roping and riding, past and future, cold winter and fiery desire, lust and love all come together in this new Compass series. Saddle up and hang on. The Comptons are back!
